Attendance Matters

We need to ensure that all of our students are safe and accounted for. In case of illness or absence, please call our school office at 613-962-2717.

The Education Act requires that students attend classes "regularly and punctually". Safe Schools policy details our responsibility in confirming students' whereabouts when not noted as present at school. When a student is considered absent, the school will call home to confirm the whereabouts of the absent student unless the parent / guardian has already called into the school to inform us of the late or absence.

We encourage parents to notify us directly before 9:00 a.m.

In the case of some lengthy absences, a medical certificate may also be required. Students who are late for class must report to the office to sign in. Any student leaving the school must be signed out in the main office. Students must sign back in if they return to the school prior to dismissal.

Every School Day Counts!

We are eager to work with families to ensure that students are at school.  Chronic absenteeism (missing just 2 days per month or 18 days over the school year) can be an early warning sign of academic trouble starting as early as kindergarten.  Missing ten minutes a day over the course of 13 years of school, also amounts to nearly a half of a year of school.  Students do learn concepts that build upon each other each day.  Please notify us of any absences (e.g., vacations or illnesses) and we can work together to fill in any gaps.
